6 ENGLISH WORDS YOU MUST AVOID IN ACADEMIC CONTENT WRITING

Academic contents usually follow formal models of writing and writing this kind of content requires excessive attention to the choice of words. As informal words are not allowed in academic writing, a writer must know the lists of words, which cannot be used in this kind of writing. I am highlighting few examples of such words below:

Informal words are not accepted to be used in academic content. For example, you cannot use words like “a bit” or “a lot” in your academic assignment. Instead you have to write “somewhat” or “several”.

Unsophisticated words like “Big”, “Good”, “Get” should not be in an academic content writer’s dictionary. Instead, “Large”, “Prime”, “Receive” can be used.

Vague words like “stuff” need to be avoided in academic content writing. Instead, specific words like belonging and possession can be written.

Exaggerated words like always, never, best cannot be used by academic writers, they are allowed to use words like frequently, ideal.

Jargons and Clichés must be avoided in academic content writing.

Slang words like cool or daily abbreviations like phone, info should be avoided.
